Cayuga CC Events Highlighting Available Benefits, Services for Local Veterans
Cayuga Community College will partner with agencies in Cayuga and Oswego Counties in upcoming weeks to spotlight available benefits and services for veterans and military-affiliated families.
The College will host discussions with the Cayuga County Veterans Service Agency and the Oswego County Veterans Service Office in November, providing an avenue for veterans and military-affiliated families to hear directly from local experts. The discussions are the final events in the College’s popular Cultural Speaker Series for the fall semester.
The discussion with the Cayuga County Veterans Service Agency is scheduled for 4 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 3, at the Auburn Campus, and the session with the Oswego County Veterans Service Office is scheduled for 4 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 17, at the Fulton Campus. Both conversations are free and open to the public. Refreshments will be provided.
Emily Cameron, the College’s Director of Community Education and Workforce Development, said the events will connect military-affiliated families with agencies and representatives dedicated to helping them access the services they’ve earned. Cameron is also the coordinator of the College’s Veterans Services.
“We wanted to organize these conversations for our veterans and military-affiliated families, who have sacrificed so much for all of us, as a small way to say ‘thank you.’ We know that sometimes understanding what services are available, and how they can be accessed, can feel overwhelming. We’re offering a stress-free, straightforward discussion with experts from Cayuga and Oswego Counties who best know what’s available for veterans and their families,” said Cameron.
Representatives from the veterans agencies from Cayuga and Oswego Counties will lead the conversations. Topics will include compensation, medical services, property tax benefits, education benefits, and more. Attendees will have opportunities to ask questions related to available benefits, resources and services.
Information on services at Cayuga Community College for veterans and military-affiliated families will also be available during the conversations. The College has been recognized as a Military-Friendly School, and offers services for military-affiliated students.
Both conversations are free to attend. Registration is encouraged but not required. Contact the Office of Community Education and Workforce Development at 315-294-8841 to register.
