Some or all of the costs of your tuition, fees and books may be covered by financial aid. You may also receive additional aid to help cover personal expenses such as housing, meals, and transportation. Financial Aid awards decisions are based on need, eligibility, and available funds.

The Types of Financial Aid awarded include Federal Direct Loans, Federal Pell Grants, Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grants, Federal Work Study, Academic Competitiveness Grants, and Cayuga grants and scholarships.

Financial aid comes with responsibilities for attendance and maintaining satisfactory grades. View Student Rights and Responsibilities and Maintaining Eligibility.

FEDERAL STUDENT AID – FAFSA

To apply for federal assistance, a student (and parents of dependent students) must file the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) annually. Complete a FAFSA online at https://studentaid.gov/.

Apply at least four weeks prior to the FAFSA deadline, to provide sufficient time to review your application.

FAFSAs received by June 1 will be considered for all available aid. Applications received after June 1 may only be considered for Pell, TAP, APTS, and student loans.

Cayuga’s school code is 002861. Students (and dependent parents) must obtain a FSA ID that serves as an electronic signature when completing the FAFSA. You may obtain your FSA ID at https://studentaid.gov/. Keep your FSA ID safe and in an accessible location.

Apply for New York State Tuition Assistance (TAP)

  • If you are a New York State resident, complete the Tuition Assistance Program (TAP) application. Failure to complete a TAP application at the time a FAFSA was filed, will result in a State Processing Center postcard outlining application instructions. The electronic TAP application can be completed online at https://www.tap.hesc.ny.gov/totw/. Cayuga’s school code for TAP is 2005.
  • Part-Time New York State residents may apply for aid by July 1 for Fall and November 15 for Spring. Applications are available.

You must re-apply for Financial Aid each academic year. Log into your myCayuga account to check Financial Aid requirements, view awards, and accept Financial Aid.
