COURSE DESCRIPTION

Prerequisites: high school biology or BIOL 100 or BIOL 101. Intended for non-science majors, this introductory course provides an introduction to the principles of human genetics. Topics covered include: cells; the structure, function, and regulation of DNA; the biological basis of genetics and inheritance; mutations; expression of genetic information; population genetics; genetic and reproductive technologies; and the social, ethical, and legal impacts of genetic technologies.
