EDUCATION A.A.
This pathway is for students who are passionate about a career in Education and are interested in transferring to a four-year program after graduating.
Students learn the knowledge, techniques, and ethics of educational professions, and develop their ability to relate to the experiences and emotions of other people.
Cayuga’s Education A.A. program is designed for students interested in transferring after graduating and who may pursue diverse career opportunities. The program includes all grade levels and offers concentrations in English, history, mathematics, and the sciences.
In Education, you can:
- Inspire students and encourage their interest in their academic and career futures...
- Direct a childcare center and help build children’s academic foundations
- Enhance the educational experience for individuals with intellectual or developmental disabilities
- Advocate for children and their families
HIGH SCHOOL
Careers in Education require strong oral and written communication skills and the ability to think critically, mediate personal and professional disputes, and understand and respect diverse cultural backgrounds and perspectives.
To prepare for college in High School, students should focus on developing strong writing and verbal communication skills and enhancing their ability to relate to the experiences and emotions of others.
People who work in Education need to:
- Develop strong writing and verbal communication skills
- Relate to the experiences and emotions of others
- Show respect and understanding of diverse cultural backgrounds and perspectives
ENGLISH
- 3-year high school English course average of 80 or higher
MATH
- Algebra I final course grade of 90 OR aim to complete Algebra II final course grade of 70 or higher (includes average of Algebra IIa & Algebra IIb)

After high school, complete your degree in ONE YEAR at Cayuga Community College.
After high school graduation, decide (with the help of Cayuga’s Education Advisor) what Education degree program most interests you, including a teaching subject concentration, and what bachelor’s institution (public or private) you would like to attend.

To help students transfer, the college has agreements with four-year institutions that allow you to transfer all your Cayuga credits. This supports your progress toward a bachelor’s degree in Education, or a related field.
