APPLICATION PROCESS & ADMISSIONS REQUIREMENTS

Step 1

Step 1. Apply to Cayuga

Applying to Cayuga is quick and FREE. You can start your application now!

Step 2

Step 2: Submit Official Transcripts

Submit your official transcripts to the Office of Admissions by following the steps below.

SUBMIT YOUR OFFICIAL HIGH SCHOOL TRANSCRIPTS

Guidance counselors typically send in high school transcripts through Scoir. We also accept high school transcripts if your guidance office emails them to admissions@cayuga-cc.edu.edu, or if they are mailed to Cayuga Community College from the high school in sealed, unopened envelopes.

For postal mail delivery, deliver to:

Office Of Admissions
197 Franklin Street
Auburn, NY 13021

SUBMIT ALL OFFICIAL COLLEGE TRANSCRIPTS FROM PREVIOUSLY ATTENDED INSTITUTIONS

Providing official transcripts and making sure all previous college-level coursework is accurately documented can help students graduate sooner, minimize student loan debt, and prevent problems with prerequisites or repeating courses. Transcripts for “college in the high school” classes must be sent directly from the college where the credits were earned, not from the high school.

Most institutions provide online ordering of transcripts, commonly linked from their Registrar’s Office. SUNY.edu also has a collection of institutional transcript ordering pages.

If your prior institution offers secure electronic delivery of official transcripts, order delivery to admissions@cayuga-cc.edu.edu.

TRANSFER CREDIT EVALUATION AND POLICY

Cayuga’s most current Transfer Policy can be found in the College Catalog.

The Registrar’s Office is responsible for evaluating all official college transcripts from students wishing to apply previous college coursework to current degree or certificate programs.

The process is as follows:

  • Official academic transcripts from post-secondary institutions accredited by the New York State Education Department or a regional or national accreditation agency recognized by AACRAO are evaluated for transfer credit.
  • Official test scores, as recognized by the American Council on Education (ACE), are evaluated for applicable transfer credit.

ACCEPTED TEST SCORES EQUIVALENCIES

ADVANCED PLACEMENT EQUIVALENCY

Send your official AP scores from CollegeBoard.org to Cayuga to be considered for college credit or placement.

CLEP EQUIVALENCY

You can send your CLEP scores to Cayuga for free when you register for your exam. Visit CollegeBoard.org for details under “Send Scores and Transcripts.”

IB EQUIVALENCY

If you have completed International Baccalaureate (IB) courses outside the U.S., Cayuga may review them for possible transfer credit.

AQA EQUIVALENCY

AQA exams are UK-based qualifications similar to U.S. high school courses. If you have completed AQA GCSE or A-level subjects, Cayuga may review them for possible transfer credit.

GRADE REQUIREMENTS

Only courses with a grade of C- (or higher) or a numeric value of 1.7 (or higher) that meet the student’s program of study requirements will be considered for transfer into Cayuga and appear as transfer credit on official academic transcripts. (No grades from previous colleges will be displayed or calculated into the student’s cumulative grade point average at Cayuga.)

CREDIT CONVERSION

Credit transferred will be converted to semester hours, and when a partial credit hour results from the conversion, it will be rounded down to the nearest whole credit.

RESIDENCY REQUIREMENT

To receive a certificate or degree from Cayuga Community College, 50% of the required credits must be earned at Cayuga.

TRANSCRIPT REVIEW ACCESS

Upon review of your transcript(s), credits accepted for transfer into a Cayuga degree program may be viewed in your myCayuga account using your C-number and password. If you wish to challenge this review, you may do so by contacting the Registrar’s Office at registrar@cayuga-cc.edu. You may be asked to submit a course description and course syllabus for review by the appropriate division chair to determine whether the course is similar in content to a Cayuga course. The division chair will render a decision to the Registrar’s Office.

For assistance with myCayuga login, contact the IT Help Desk at 315-501-1993 or email helpdesk@cayuga-cc.edu.

NOTE: Transfer credit for Early Childhood or Education course credit will only be granted after the Education Coordinator or Division Chair reviews the transcript.

STUDENT TRANSFER CREDIT APPEAL PROCESS

If you do not agree with Cayuga’s decision on the granting or placement of credit that you earned at a prior SUNY institution, you have the right to submit an appeal to the Registrar’s Office at registrar@cayuga-cc.edu.
