This industry-driven, hands-on training program offers students the opportunity to become employed in our local, well-paying, plastics industry. PLASTICS TECHNICIAN – INJECTION MOLDING
This noncredit program was designed in conjunction with our local plastics manufacturers who have a need to hire skilled employees. The program provides students with a general introduction to the plastics industry. The primary focus will be on the day-to-day operations of a typical injection molding facility. Topics covered include, General Plant Safety, Plastics Terminology, Plastics Math, Blueprint Reading, Molding Machines and Processes, and Injection Molding. This program provides students with a general understanding of the three major aspects of injection molding; the injection molding machine, the molding process, and the injection mold. This program will use a combination of class-room instruction and hands-on practical experience.
PLASTICS TECHNICIAN – ADVANCED INJECTION MOLDING AND BLOW MOLDING
This noncredit program is a continuation of Plastics Technician – Injection Molding. Students will be introduced to extrusion blow molding and advanced injection molding processes. Topics covered include Understanding Polymers, Material Handling and Preparation, Product Testing, Plastics Terminology, Math for Blow Molding, Extrusion Blow Molding Processes, and Troubleshooting. This program will use a combination of classroom instruction and hands-on practical experience. Prerequisite: Plastics Technician Injection Molding or equivalent experience.
