Middle States Commission Reaffirms Cayuga Community College Accreditation

Cayuga Community College President Brian M. Durant, Ed.D., announced that at its session on November 17, 2016, the Middle States Commission on Higher Education acted to reaffirm accreditation of the Cayuga Community College with no requirements for a follow-up report. The College first achieved Middle States accreditation in 1965 and has maintained accreditation since its initial review. The next evaluation visit is scheduled for 2024-2025.

In addition to notification of its reaccreditation, the Middle States Commission commended the College for the quality of the self-study process and report, and recognized the institution for its progress to date.

“This is tremendous news and is a deserved outcome that reflects upon the significant effort that many faculty, staff, students, and trustees put into the self-study process, as well as the site team visit last April.  I want to thank the Co-chairs Professors Christie Waters and Steve Keeler, the editing team, the steering committee, work groups, the Trustees, and the entire campus community for their participation in the review,” Dr. Durant said upon receiving the news. He further noted “Our Middle States affiliation and reaccreditation demonstrates our commitment to self-assessment and to providing an outstanding education for our students.”
