Course Purpose:

This course is an overview of the theory and principles of remote sensing and aerial photogrammetry. Students will learn how to use remotely sensed imagery in resource exploration and base mapping. Fundamentals of photogrammetry, basic image interpretation, and classification techniques will be introduced.

Course Objectives:

At the conclusion of the course, students will:
  1. know and understand the basic concepts and methods in remote sensing and aerial photogrammetry.
  2. gain skills in photo interpretation and photogrammetric techniques.
  3. be able to use remotely sensed images for resource inventory and analysis.

Laboratory Exercise:

Each lab assignment will be considered as an exercise and is due in the following week. Professional appearance (especially neatness) will be considered very important for all submitted works. While excellent professional appearance will not increase your grade, substandard work will surely decrease it. All supporting calculations must be shown and set out in a logical fashion. Each answer should be enclosed with a rectangle. A late submission will be penalized and may not be accepted except in an emergency or when substitute arrangements have been made.
