class meets four nights, 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.

each night will include a break around 7:45

most evenings will have both lecture/demonstration and hands-on exercises for students to practice with that evening’s concepts

• First Class – what is a spreadsheet, what is a workbook, what is a cell and what can a cell contain, what is a formula, what is a function, changing column width, =SUM, =AVERAGE, =MAX, =MIN, using the Office 2007 Office button to save disk files, read disk files and print

work on sample spreadsheets entering data and then writing formulas.

• Second Class – the standard tool bar, the formatting tool bar, the drawing tool bar, formatting Numbers, the fill handle in a cell, drag and drop, changing fonts, more on formatting numbers, =COUNT, =TODAY, =IF, =PMT, formulas that reference data in other worksheets and other workbooks, File menus

Hands on with sample spreadsheets

• Third Class – relative and absolute addresses in a formula, , copy and paste, OLE, , freeze panes and split windows

Hands on with sample spreadsheets

• Last Class - format cell menu options, conditional formatting, sorting data, help menu, drawing simple graphs, shortcuts like pointing, F4, and right click, topics as requested by students

The first night students will be asked to indicate any additional topics they would like to go over.

Students who need a certificate of completion for their employer should notify the Instructor the first class.
