Windows, the very name is more synonymas with computer technology than it is with glass. This mainstream retail operating system started out as an addon to MS-DOS in 1985 (year I was born, fitting I would say). This technology would steadily grow from an addon based program that merely ran on top of DOS, to the most popular and widely used operating system in history. more than two thirds of the computers in existence today use Microsoft Windows as its primary operating system. The graphics on screen, as well as the strong market targeting of home users sparked a technological revelution that has shaped our world as it is today. By simplyfying complex tasks, coupled with the easy to use onscreen graphics, Windows was able to take a strong foothold in the computer software community. |
