Homework

A homework quiz will be given every week on the material from the previous three classes.  I will randomly choose one problem from each section and ask you to copy over your work in 5 minutes.  If your homework is completed on time, this is an easy 10% of your grade.  The quiz will be given in the beginning of the class, so don’t be late!  The lowest homework quiz will be dropped.

Testing Policy

If you have to miss a test, you must let me know in advance.  The excuse must be valid (death in the family, sick, etc.).  If the excuse is not valid or you fail to let me know in advance, it is an automatic deduction of a letter grade.

Quiz Policy

If you miss a quiz, you must make up the quiz before the next class.  Otherwise you will receive a 0 for that quiz.  The lowest quiz grade will be dropped.

Attendance Policy:

The college attendance policy must be followed.  You are allowed to miss 9 MWF classes and 6 TTH classes.  If you miss more than the allowed number of classes, you will be withdrawn from class.  There are NO EXCUSED ABSENCES under this policy.  This policy accommodates sufficient absences for participation in field trips, athletic trips, illness, court appearances and personal reasons.  You are responsible for any material that you miss.

Accommodations:

Cayuga Community College, by mission and in compliance with Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 and the 1990 Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), is pledged to accommodate any properly diagnosed, documented, and disclosed disabilities of our students.  Consistent with our institutional goals and capabilities, and with the objectives of this course, we will provide persons with disabilities any accommodations designated as necessary for them to have equal opportunity for learning.  In order to qualify for such accommodations, disabled students must present current documentation verifying the existence and identity of disabilities recognized under Section 504 and ADA.  At Auburn students must provide such information either to the Coordinator of the Disabilities Services (Helene Stapleton, Academic Support Center) or to the Disability Specialist (Stacey Denniston, Academic Support Center), depending on the nature of the disability, and at the Fulton Extension Center to the Disability Specialist (submitted through the administrative office at Fulton).  In consultation with the appropriate coordinator or specialist, qualified students must then develop explanations of required accommodations and share them with their instructors.

Tutoring:

In the Academic Support Center (L222) there is a mathematics specialist (Vince Lynch) available.  He will be coming in the beginning of the semester to let you know his hours and how to make an appointment.  Peer tutoring is also available in the Academic Support Center. Peer tutoring is available during most of the times listed below.  Both of these services are FREE of charge.

The Center’s hours are:

M-TH              8:00am – 8:30 pm

F                      8:00am – 4:30 pm
