The Theater Association of New York State (TANYS) invited the company of Cayuga Community College Harlequin Productions’ latest show, The Six Realms of Pizza Delivery, to perform at the 2012 TANYS Festival. The cast will perform the play at 4 p.m. November 17 at Genesee Community College in Batavia, N.Y.
A TANYS adjudicator reviewed the October 27 performance of the play based on 10 criteria, believability of acting and effective timing, character interpretation, and overall impact. The adjudicator awarded the following recognitions:
- Meritorious Achievement in Ensemble Acting to Lizzy Fennessy and Matthew Limerick for their portrayals of “Pal” and “Herk”
- Meritorious Achievement in Scenic Design to Virginia Fennessy
The Six Realms of Pizza Delivery, directed by Harlequin Productions advisor Bob Frame, was one of eight shows invited to present at the festival.
Six Realms continues its run tonight, tomorrow, and Saturday, November 1 through 3, at 8 p.m. in the College’s Black Box Theatre, 197 Franklin St., Auburn.
On November 15, the College will host open rehearsals of The Six Realms of Pizza Delivery as well as Auburn Players’ production of ’night, Mother, which Frame also directed and which received an invitation to perform at TANYS. Six Realms will begin at 4 p.m. and ’night, Mother will be at 7:30 p.m., and both productions will perform at the Auburn Campus. Both will be free admission, donations gratefully accepted.
“In these rehearsals, we will be practicing our presentation as we will have to do it at festival: Starting with an empty stage then 10 minutes to load the set onto the stage. We give the full performance followed by 10 minutes to return the space to an empty stage,” Frame explained. “I’m proud of our students for their work in bringing to life the premier production of this light-hearted play and for receiving an invitation to perform at the state level.”
The comedy chronicles the trials and tribulations of three pizza delivery workers, and the unusual challenges these deliverers face, including dogs, broken cars, and strange—sometimes very strange—customers. LaRae Brooks (Syracuse), Stephen Hodge (Auburn), and Chris Competillo (Groton) play the pizza delivery drivers, and Rachel Bodner (Auburn) takes on the role of their neurotic boss.
Completing the cast are the customers and others the delivery drivers encounter along the way: Michael Crowe (Romulus), Amanda Bauso (Auburn), Shannon Reed (Hannibal), Colin Wentworth (Skaneateles), Josh Stedge (Waterloo), Ian Moore (Weedsport), Mathew Limerick (Fredericksburg, Va.), Lizzy Fennessy (Jordan), and Mathew Smith.
The backstage crew is run by the stage manager David Thieringer (Hannibal) and crew of Gillian Frame (Skaneateles) and Kat Jordan(Tully). Harlequin Production regular Virginia Fennessy has designed another glorious setting, which is lit by Michael Broughton. Mathew Ryan Limerick will be dressing the cast and Sophomore Jed Daniels (Jordan) will be creating the soundscape.
Angelo’s Pizza of Auburn will provide the pizza boxes for the show.
Tickets are $1 for students and only $5 for general admission. Please be advised that the show features adult language, and seating is limited. For further information contact Bob Frame at email@example.com or 315-294-8640.
