Stephanie A. Schuster of Auburn has joined Cayuga Community College in the new position of coordinator of community education. Schuster, formerly assistant director of the Schweinfurth Memorial Art Center in Auburn, will expand the selection of credit-free courses that the college offers to the public each semester, through its Division of Workforce Development and Community Education. Schuster earned a bachelor's degree in studio arts from Hamilton College and a master's degree in museum studies from Syracuse University. For several years, she taught courses in museum studies at the State University of New York College at Oswego. Her museum background spans community arts education, fund development, technical and curatorial assistance, staff supervision, and program, exhibit and event promotion.
At Cayuga, she will develop and market new course offerings in areas such as arts and culture, music, dance and fitness, personal interest, travel and specialized camps. Currently, Cayuga offers a range of "Leisure Learning" courses from local history to online selling, GPS navigation to SAT preparation, food and wine to dance and fitness.
