Cayuga CC Foundation to Present James and the Giant Peach in Spoken and Sign Language

DATE: 09-19-2008

James and the Giant Peach

Bringing deaf and hearing actors and audiences together, and bringing a famous children's story to life, two free performances of James and the Giant Peach will be presented in Auburn and Fulton by the Cayuga Community College Foundation.

The story of an orphaned boy who dreams of freedom from his wicked guardian aunts, James and the Giant Peach originated as a 1961 book by Roald Dahl. The young hero and a group of magical insects commandeer a fantastically expanding peach to escape together. The book's 1996 film adaptation received an Academy Award nomination for best music.

Sign Stage on Tour, whose actors perform in both spoken and sign language, will appear on Tuesday, September 30, at G. Ray Bodley High School in Fulton, and on Wednesday, October 1, at the Bisgrove Community Theatre at Cayuga Community College in Auburn. Both shows begin at 7:00 p.m. and are free to the public until all seats are filled; doors open at 6:30 p.m.
