Cayuga CC Theatre Picked for Festival, Awards

DATE: 11-13-2003

Harlequin Productions of Cayuga Community College has been invited to perform at the Theatre Association of New York State annual festival of community and college theatre. The Harlequin production of Undertones, a one-act play by Roberto Prestigiacomo, will be performed of the festival's two opening performances on Friday, November 21, at the RPI Playhouse in Troy. Undertones competed with 40 other productions for a place in the TANYS festival program.

Undertones was presented at Cayuga Community College in late October as part of Dying for Love, an evening of three one-act plays. To help fund the trip to the festival, Harlequin Productions will stage a benefit performance of Undertones on Tuesday, November 18, at 8:00 p.m. in the college theatre in Spartan Hall; donations will be accepted at the door. At the TANYS festival awards banquet, Harlequin Productions will receive several merit awards for Dying for Love: outstanding accomplishment in scene design, excellence in poster design, and meritorious achievement in acting. The company's spring 2003 production of Gianni Schicchi will be honored with TANYS merit awards for excellence in set design, excellence in acting, meritorious achievement in ensemble work, and meritorious achievement in directing.

Undertones cast members Adam Smith, Brian Chalupnicki and Rebecca Murray, director Bob Frame, and eight other members of the Dying for Love company will attend the TANYS festival, with additional funding assistance from the Cayuga County Community College Foundation.
