The Cayuga Community College library invites the Auburn community to attend the grand opening of journalist Ormie King's Legends of Auburn collection. This engaging collection contains thousands of photographs, newspaper clippings, and other memorabilia depicting the rich history of the Auburn area and its citizens. The current and former Auburnians who appear in the collection's 130-plus albums have contributed to the community through sports, business enterprises, civic service, and many other endeavors.
The opening reception and display will be held Wednesday, May 7, from noon to 9:00 p.m. in the Local History Room of the college library. The event is free and open to the public.
King, a former city counselor, writes the weekly "Legends" column for the Cayuga Neighbors section of the Syracuse Post Standard. He has worked with the Cayuga Community College library - with the assistance of Paul Lattimore Jr., a local businessman and former College Foundation director - to create a new home for his continually expanding collection of records and artifacts. The collection will now be easily accessible for research or browsing in the college library.
