The vision of Cayuga Community College is to create an interactive community united by a passion for academic excellence and human service, making the globally significant locally relevant.

In accordance with this vision, one of the goals of the College's Strategic Plan is to foster and sustain a supportive and satisfying student experience that engenders success, inspires lifelong learning, and promotes a global perspective.

After 30 years of providing international Travel Study programs, in 2010, the College began to investigate how to expand global collaborations for increased opportunities for faculty and students. Asking the question, "In this world of global education how could Cayuga and other potential partners work together to create unique opportunities of global study for students and faculty".

President Patil with Cayuga's International Delegates

Dr. Larson and the Cayuga team meet with India's President Patil.

After several visits to India, the college signed a Memorandum of Understanding with North Maharashtra University, Jalgaon, in March of 2012. The goal of this initiative was to create pathways to global opportunities for faculty and student engagement, learning and research. In April of 2013, the first articulation agreement was signed creating a unique 2+1 and a 1+1+1 program between both institutions.

With the 2+1 program, students begin their education at Cayuga Community College (CCC). Students select one of four disciplines: microbiology, chemistry, computer science or business. After completion of the required course work, students will earn an Associate's Degree. The credits earned at Cayuga Community College are eligible for transfer to North Maharashtra University (NMU). Students may then complete the required course work to earn a Bachelor's Degree from NMU. Hence, in a three year period, students may earn an Associate's Degree and a Bachelor's Degree and have the opportunity to gain a global perspective and experience. Students from India will have gained a two year international experience and American students will gain a year of international experience.

In the 1+1+1 program, students from NMU will begin their studies at NMU. After completing one year of study, the student will transfer to Cayuga to complete the second year. After completing the required course work, the student will transfer the college credits earned at Cayuga back to NMU. The student will then complete the third year at NMU. The student will have completed three years of study and will have earned an Associate’s degree and a Bachelor’s degree, while gaining one year of international experience.
