Funding for Community Ed and Workforce Dev Credit-free Courses

All credit-free courses, including career training courses, must either be paid in full or have a payment commitment in place at the time of registration.

Unfortunately, at this time, credit-free courses are not eligible for federal financial aid.

Self-Pay

Students paying for credit-free courses themselves can do so at the time of registration. Acceptable forms of payment include Visa, MasterCard, Discover, check and/or money order. No cash payments please.

For career training programs, we encourage students to contact their personal financial institutions to discuss whether low-interest personal loans or credit cards may be a good option for them.

Student Loans

Currently student loans are not available for credit-free career training programs. We are investigating the possibility of providing this option for our students in the future.

One-Stop Career Centers

Some students may be eligible for funding for career training programs through their regional employment office. Please contact your county's One-Stop Career Center to learn more about available funding for career training programs.

If you do not see your local workforce development office on the list, please go to the NYS Department of Labor: https://labor.ny.gov/workforcenypartners/osview.asp.

Access-VR

Adult Career and Continuing Education Services-Vocational Rehabilitation

Students with qualifying disabilities may be eligible for funding for career training programs through Access-VR (formerly known as VESID).

Access-VR Adult Career and Continuing Education Services-Vocational Rehabilitation (ACCES-VR) offers access to a full range of employment and independent living services that may be needed by persons with disabilities through their lives. Through its administration of vocational rehabilitation and independent living programs, VR coordinates policy and services relating to:

If you are currently working with Access-VR, please contact your counselor as soon as possible to discuss your interest in a career training program at Cayuga.

The main office is located in Syracuse and the phone number is 1-800-782-6164.

Veterans

Some veterans may be eligible for funding for credit-free career training programs. If you are a veteran or an eligible child of a deceased or service-connected disabled veteran, please contact your regional Veterans' Affairs office to determine your eligibility. If you are eligible for career training funding through the GI Bill, please contact the Office of Community Education and Workforce Development to start the registration process at 315-294-8841.

All veterans receiving education benefits through the VA will be required to sign a promissory note stating they will pay tuition in full by the end of the course. (Some VA benefits are paid directly to the student and not the school.)

Payment Plans

Students who wish to self-pay but cannot do so at the time of registration, may apply for a payment plan. Payment plan requirements:

  • Interview with Coordinator of Community Education
  • Submission of Payment Plan application
  • Approval by Dean of Community Education and Workforce Development
  • $300 down payment
  • Tuition paid in full prior to internship or end of course

Payment plans can be set up in weekly, bi-weekly or monthly payments depending on the needs of the student.

For additional information or to set up an interview, please call Debbi Purcell at (315) 294-8841.
