A 1997 Auburn High School graduate, Mackay spent two years at Herkimer County Community College before transferring to Le Moyne College in 2000. Mackay was an NJCAA Academic All-American at Herkimer and helped lead team to 2 NJCAA National Championship appearances. A midfielder at Le Moyne, he captured a Regional Championship his senior season. Mackay graduated from Le Moyne College with a B.A. in Business and currently resides in Auburn with wife Sharon.
Assistant Coaches:
MATT FOSTER
Matt Foster was named an assistant coach for the Spartans prior to the Spring 2010 season. Foster is a native of Auburn, NY, where he played lacrosse for Auburn High School. Before coming to Cayuga Foster played his intercollegiate lacrosse at Division II Le Moyne College in Syracuse, N.Y. Coach Foster was a two-year starter for the Dolphins and helped lead Le Moyne to four NCAA Division II National Championship games, winning the title in both 2006 and 2007. Foster will primarily work with the Spartan defense.
MIKE DISTLER
Coach Distler played attack at Haverford College where he was a 2x team captain (2007-2008), 3x All-Centennial Conference selection (2006-2008), All-American (2008), Scholar All-American (2008), and Team MVP (2008). In his senior season, he led Haverford to a final top-ten national ranking, as well as its first-ever NCAA tournament bid. Coach Distler graduated from Haverford with a B.A. in Economics in addition to completing the pre-medical program. He is originally from Redding, CT where he was an All-American at Joel Barlow High School (2004). He is currently attending New York Chiropractic College in Seneca Falls, NY.
