Policy for Matriculation of Non-High School GraduatesAll incoming students who wish to matriculate into a degree program who have neither graduated from an approved high school program nor passed the GED exam must take the college’s placement tests in order to determine academic placement and financial aid eligibility through federally approved scores. Students must make an appointment with an admissions counselor before beginning college studies at Cayuga to discuss the options for completion of this requirement. If students wish to pursue the 24 college credit option through the New York State Education Department, they must follow this procedure: Meet with an admissions counselor to discuss requirements for the equivalency through earning 24 college credits Complete and sign the High School Equivalency Intent Form in the admissions office which will be placed in student’s permanent file Register for approved courses, as listed on the Intent Form, that meet the State Education Department’s requirements Upon completion of the approved 24 credits, the student must complete the application form available at the Registrar’s Office and mail it to the New York State Education Department for review and potential approval. When proof of equivalency has been received, the student must submit a copy to the Registrar’s Office to be placed in permanent record. Students may opt at any time to take the GED exam and forward proof of success to the Registrar’s Office to satisfy this requirement. |
