PROGRAM EVALUATION

WHAT IS PROGRAM EVALUATION?

This information will be provided once sufficient program evaluation data has been obtained.

All OTA programs are responsible to assess specific measures of success and to make them available to the public. Program evaluation provides OTA faculty with objective data pertaining to the strengths and weaknesses of the program. Decisions that guide the improvement of the program are based on program evaluation data.

WHAT EVALUATION MEASURES ARE USED?

Persistence to graduation from the OTA program:
This is a measure of how many graduates completed the OTA program in a maximum of 3 years (150% of the normal 2-year graduation time frame).

Persistence to graduation from the College:
This represents those students who left the OTA program yet still graduated from Cayuga or transferred to another institution.

Attrition data:
This is the total number of students who did not continue on to complete the OTA program or another degree at Cayuga. This number is reflects how well the program and college was able to help students achieve their career goals. For some students who have enrolled in the OTA program, OTA is not an appropriate career choice. Faculty help counsel such students to find career paths that are more fitting.

NBCOT examination results:
The National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy produces the national examinations that assess entry-level knowledge and skills of OTA graduates. In order to obtain state licensure to practice as an OTA, the graduate must pass the national exam. In general, pass rates on the NBCOT exam correlate with the quality of the student’s education. Data presented specify the number of students who passed the NBCOT exam within 12 months of graduating from Cayuga’s OTA program.

Employer satisfaction:
The level of satisfaction that employers have with the entry-level skills of Cayuga OTA graduates is an important indicator of the OTA program’s ability to produce qualified OTAs.

Graduate job placement:
The OTA program keeps records of how many graduates from each student cohort successfully obtain employment. This data is suggestive of the marketability of Cayuga OTA graduates.
