Course Description

Prerequisite: Readiness for or completion of ENGL 101 or instructorâs permission. Recommended background: HIST 201. This course covers the social, economic, and political causes of the Civil War, an in-depth view of its military execution, a geographic study of the war, some of the political and military figures involved, and the Reconstruction of the parts of the United States affected by the war following its conclusion. In order to enhance the studentsâ ability to reason historically, the course will include a variety of political and cultural perspectives and a substantial amount of readings from primary historical resources. Three class hours weekly.
