Sponsorship and GovernanceCayuga Community College was established in 1953 as Auburn Community College under the initial sponsorship of the Auburn City School District. The County of Cayuga assumed sponsorship in 1975. The College's programs and operations are coordinated by the State University of New York and subject to the approval process of the State Education Department. As is true of all 30 community colleges in the SUNY system, Cayuga Community College is governed by a ten-member local Board of Trustees representing a variety of professions and achievements. Four are appointed by the Governor and five are appointed by the Cayuga County Legislature for rotating terms of seven years. The tenth member is a voting student representative who is elected annually by the student body. |
